Baseline Analysis of Mediation Legislation and Practices in the Georgian Health System

2 Oct, 2012

On September 14, 2012, ‘Baseline Analysis of Mediation Legislation and Practices’ was unveiled in the office of the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).

The study was conducted by the Human Rights in Health Care coalition as part of an OSGF-funded project.

The study looked at mediation related legislation and practices in the health system and aimed to develop recommendations for legislative and administrative reforms.  As part of the study, the Human Rights in Health Care coalition prepared recommendations for making mediation services more effective.

The event was attended by officials of state agencies, international and local organizations as well as lawyers.

The Human Rights in Health Care coalition was founded in 2008 with the OSGF support.  The goal of the coalition is to develop and implement programs promoting human rights in the health care sphere, especially rights of marginal groups of the population (prisoners, the HIV infected, drug addicts, people with mental disorders, the disabled, patients with end stage diseases etc.).  We believe this is essential for humane and productive life in a democratic society.
