Open Society Foundation’s Media Program supports media that serves the public interest and is free from political influence. The goal is to make quality journalism accessible to wider audiences.

In 2023 Media Program will continue to collaborate with its partner media outlets, independent, responsible journalistic groups that produce credible, fact-based analytical and investigative content, as well as daily news online.

In order to create a safe and free environment for journalists and to improve the media environment, the Foundation will continue to work with organizations that are united in Media Advocacy Coalition. With funding from USAID and in partnership with IREX, OSGF will work on strengthening the capacity of the Media Advocacy Coalition so that its advocacy campaigns are efficiently directed against emerging controversial laws, discriminative legal or financial acts against critical media and violence against journalists.
