With the support from the Open Society, Georgia Foundation Georgia Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) has been running the project on Protection of Patient’s Rights and Strategic Litigation.
IN 2015, in the framework of the project, GYLA has been working on the case with regards to a couple whose marriage had officially been registered. The case was about recognition of the right of the woman over the embryo created with her egg for the purpose of the birth of her genetic child and for her registration as a parent. In particular, to recognize her right to unilaterally consent on the transfer of the frozen embryo into the body of a surrogate mother and to unilaterally choose a surrogate and a relevant clinic.
