Conference on Civil Control for the Prevention of Illegal Eavesdropping

On April 27, Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel hosted a conference on “Civil Control for the Prevention of Illegal Eavesdropping”.  The Georgian Civil Society National Platform and media representatives had come up with the initiative to hold the conference.

Conference participants considered issues regarding materials collected by the previous government as a result of spying on citizens and illegal eavesdropping.

Lasha Tughushi, one of the organizers of the event and the editor of the Rezonansi newspaper, said: “the materials collected by the previous government illegally shall be destroyed.  The materials are the “black stain” of the recent history of Georgia”.

Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, Parliament Chairman David Usupashvili, the Minister of Interior Affairs, Irakli Gharibashvili, Deputy Justice Minister Aleksandre Baramidze, Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili and media representatives took part in the conference.
