On October 20, Economics research Centre held the second meeting with the representatives of Mass media and experts in economics within the frame of the project “Promoting Transparency and accountability of the state budget for 2009 through monitoring”.

On October 20, Economics research Centre held the second meeting with the representatives of Mass media and experts in economics within the frame of the project “Promoting Transparency and accountability of the state budget for 2009 through monitoring”.

At the meeting experts Davit Narmania and Shota Murghulia introduced the journalists to the findings of current project, namely, macroeconomic aspects of budget fulfillment for 2009; monitoring foreign debts of Georgia; relevance of the state budget and main data and main directions; review of state budget project for 2010; relevance of Georgian state budget with international standards. Representatives of the centre shared journalists’ opinion and budget related issues interesting to them. The meeting was finalized with a short seminar on new budget classification and budget formulation rules.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to expert discussion of budget monitoring findings. Invited experts assessed monitoring findings and raised initiative on other important issues which will be focus of work of the centre at the next stage.
