Georgia – War free zone

Since September 2007, charity humanitarian centre “Abkhazia” with the financial support of Open Society Georgia Foundation and War and Child liaison office of Canada is implementing project “Georgia – War free zone”.

Within the framework of this project in October 12 youth clubs were established in Tbilisi, Gori, Kutaisi, Poti, Zugdidi and Gali where around 180 IDP children attend training course in English language, computer program and conflict studies. In October, education and public relations sections were set up at each club as well as club leaders and heads of section were elected.

In terms of the project in October training in English and Russian languages, computing and civil education were delivered for 20 teenagers. Various sections and committees were created at the club. An activity was held – intellectual game: “what, where, when?” with participation of 20 club members. Members of youth development club founded a Sunday school with support of the project staff, where IDP teenagers were elected. Sunday school members underwent training in the English language and conflict studies provided by the club members.
