Introduction of the International Association of Military Journalists

3 Dec, 2010

Providing support for the development of military journalism in Georgia, keeping civil society informed on military and political processes, supporting Georgia’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures – this is just a short list of goals set by the International Association of Military Journalists, a non-governmental organization.

The founders and members of the organization are Giorgi Tskhvitava, Koba Liklikadze and Irakli Aladashvili.  Unlike other states, the Association of Military Journalists in Georgia has been founded for the first time.  The association has developed the first working web page.  The address of the web page, which was unveiled at Open Society Georgia Foundation on November 30, is www.miljournalists.ge.  It displays different types of news, analytical materials and blogs, total of about 80 materials, of which 40 articles written by 12 authors deal with only Georgia.  Foreign news and student blogs are also available.

The association has issued several important statements regarding the soldiers of the Georgian Armed Forces killed in Afghanistan as well as other important facts.
