Media workers in Georgia Thursday delivered another appeal to the Chief Prosecutor’s office, asking to revoke the seizure of satellite dishes belonging to Maestro TV.

The campaign first appealed to the prosecutor on July 23.

This time, the Coalition for Media Advocacy addressed its appeal personally to the justice minister and the chief prosecutor.

The campaigners consider the seizure of satellite dishes from Maestro illegal, and presented their arguments for that in the appeal.

“Our main request is to revoke the seizure of Maestro’s satellite dishes, because we considered that freedom of speech, guaranteed by the Georgian Constitution, the Election Code and several articles in the Law on Political Unions of Citizens were violated,” said Tamar Kordzaia, representing the coalition.

Lasha Tughushi, editor of the newspaper Rezonansi, also considers that there are enough grounds and arguments to revoke the seizure of satellite dishes.

Yesterday a rally was held in front of parliament in support of Maestro. Campaigners aim at helping Maestro get back its more than 16 000 seized satellite dishes and they promise to continue fighting until they see real result.
