NGOs Launched the Elections Media Center

From May 20, 2010 with the support from the “Open Society Georgia Foundation” the elections media center has been established. It is coordinated by three local non-governmental monitoring organizations – “International Transparency – Georgia”, “International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy” and “Young Lawyers’ Association”.

The media center provides  journalists and general public with the information on the planned and implemented monitoring activities, monitoring results and other issues related to the elections 24 hours a day.

On the day of elections the monitoring organizations made statements on the following issues:

  •          The process of voting at the polling stations;
  •          The process of appealing and the violations and faults revealed;
  •          The process of vote counting at the polling stations.

The statements and monitoring results presented by the NGOs are broadcasted by TV and Radio companies, as for the electronic versions they are available at the NGOs’ websites (www.transparency.ge; www.isfed.ge; www.gyla.ge) in Georgian, English and Russian languages.

Besides these three organizations, the following NGOs are making statements on election monitoring results by means of media center:
