Open Society Georgia Foundation Media Program is starting English language Courses for Journalists

2 Mar, 2011

On March 1, 2011, Open Society Georgia Foundation Media Program is starting English language Courses for Journalists. In 2010 English Language Training for Media Representatives was sponsored by Open Society Georgia Foundation, British Petroleum and  HSBC Bank. The goal of the project was to raise knowledge of English language among journalists in order to support their access to English language sources, share western journalism standards and facilitate communication of Georgian journalists with their foreign colleagues. The project is implemented by the British Council through the English Teachers’ Association of Georgia (ETAG).

55 journalists from Samtskhe-Javakheti, Adjara and Imereti regions attended English language classes in 2010.

Due to journalists’ growing demand on English language, Media Program is expanding language courses to five regions of Georgia (Samtskhe-Javakheti, Adjara, Imereti, Samegrelo and Kakheti) and Tbilisi. The English language course will cover period of 9 months in 2011.
