OSGF Names Winners of Media Competition “Human Rights and Health Care”

On 26 November, the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF) named five winners of the media competition titled “Human Rights and Health Care”.

The prizes for the best articles were awarded to:

Anuka Gogosashvili – Tabula Magazine.

Irma Kakhurashvili – the newspaper Georgia Today

Manana Qveliashvili – the newspaper Batumelebi.

and Nana Lomidze – the newspaper Weekend.

The prize for the best multimedia work was awarded to Guram Matskhonashvili, for his video titled Meet the Georgian transgender – he exists, he is real for the webpage of Identoba.

The winners received special certificates and monetary awards.

OSGF Director Ketevan Khutsishvili said that OSGF organizes media competitions to encourage journalists to write about human rights in health care and related problems.

The goal of the competition “Human Rights and Health Care” was to draw public attention to topics such as the rights of patients receiving palliative care and the challenges faced by people with limited abilities or  HIV/AIDs, as well as the availability of treatment and access to services.

The media competition was announced in July 2013. Fifteen journalists from TV, print and online media took part in it.
