Parajanov Yard exhibition “Miracle always in me”

29 Jan, 2010

On October 15, The Art Development Association “For Art” organized thematic exhibition “Miracle always in Me” as a summary event of the project “Parajanov Yard” supported by Open Society Georgia Foundation.

The chief aim of the project is to reveal capacity of young talented painters and promote their professional development through establishment of workshops in different fields. The exhibition presented the collections of works created in these workshops jointly by young and already successful painters.

The exhibition topic encompassed cosmopolitan ideas characteristic to Tbilisi urban culture with no clear style or direction, with Georgian national features harmoniously entwine with absolutely different images.

This is what Parajanov said about this city: “I was borne and raised up in this great city where Aisors, Ukrainians, Kurds and Russian, Armenians and Azeri, Georgian and Greeks, Turks and Polish, Spanish and German, Estonian and Jews live together a big family, one home. The city has its own local color, it own scent, its own love and freedom. In this city Russian, Armenian and Georgian churches, Synagogue and Muslim mosque are located side by side on one square. In this city you hear “Matsoni, Matsoni” in the mornings”… This is a miracle, the miracle that I always carry in me”.

This cosmopolitanism and freedom fills the exhibition spirit, the freedom which is an inexhaustible source of creative ideas.

Against the background of Parajanov i.e. stylized Italian yard were exhibited works from different fields of arts: Textile, fashion, enamel, furniture and accessories accompanied by theatrical performance and special music.
