Internally displaced young people from Tskhinvali and Zemo (Upped) Abkhazeti visited the Foundation. The Foundation’s “Open Gallery” hosted exhibition and theatrical performance of puppets created by them.

In spring The Foundation supported two different projects “Puppet Theater in Khurvaleti” and “Synthetical Puppet”. Both projects have common purpose – to promote integration of internally displaced children in regions and Tbilisi through creative activities. Puppet theatre project in Khurvaleti is finalized and today’s event presents its outcomes. “Synthetical Puppet” will be presenting its work in December.

The meeting started with the film show and performance “Khurvaleti Tale”. The performance was base on the national and ethnic motives. Puppets animated by the young people performed “Samaia”, “Ossuri”, “Davluri”. The Event embodied Khurvaleti Gilda’s call “Guard” to Russian soldiers who are located in Khurvaleti. Gilda and awakened nature together called the Russian soldiers for Peace.

For several months the young people have been studying the art of creating puppets and they independently produced puppets. Active involvement in creative work hastened their psycho-social rehabilitation, promoted and broadened their creative skills and vision.

“I would like to thank the project management team. Thanks to them we got familiar with each other and learnt how to produce puppets” – says project participant Qeti Qituashvili.

“For several months children have been developing Khurvaleti Tale puppets. This is my first opportunity of working with children on this direction. Works and performance presented today is of high level and could astonish the audience of any scale and critical approach. Some of them will be capable of working independently in theatre” – says Qurab Qiqodze, manager of “Puppeteer’s club”.

“Puppet theatre in Khurvaleti” was carried out by puppeteer’s club and “Synthetical puppet by Elene Tavadze by studio “Phantasmagoria” at School N53.

After the performance the guests left for Tbilisi sightseeing, visited puppet museum and National Museum, got familiar with the history of city’s foundation and development.
