Quilt-Textile Art in the Open Gallery

On May 7 the Open Society hosted opening of the Quilt-Textile Art exhibition. Authors of textile pieces are Ira Lavrinenko, Tamar Bakradze and Nata Burjanadze. All of the artists are members of Georgian textile group. Along with traditional technologies they use innovative tools such as photo print.

Quilt-textile counts several centuries in Georgia. A quilt is a piece of texture, a type of bedding or decorative picture made of several layers generally combined using the technique of quilting and tying. Examples of quilt are ancient beddings and pictures which had been discovered during expeditions organized by State Folklore Center.

The exhibition will last until May 14.
