The implication of Brexit on Georgia, the European Union and the United Kingdom.

12 Jul, 2016

On July 11th, Open Society Georgia Foundation organized a closed discussion on implication of  Brexit on Georgia, the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The keynote speakers of the event were Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Georgia Alexandra Hall Hall, EU Ambassador to Georgia H.E. Janos Herman and State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Mr. David Bakradze. It was noted that current discussions in UK tend to be more related to the results of the referendum and there is no clear reasoning about the procedures on UK’s exit from EU.

During the discussion there was a clear message that the process should damage neither European Union, nor the United Kingdom. Despite the Brexit, UK will keep supporting Georgia’s EU-Atlantic aspiration. Speakers underlined the fact that Brexit will not have any negative impact on visa liberalization process.

The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of the EU member states, political parties and civil society, including the representatives of analytical centers.
