The project is being implemented by the office of Public Defender with the financial support of Open Society – Georgia Foundation and UNDP. The project activities envisage initiation of discussions in Qutaisi, Batumi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe and Telavi among the students around the topics of open society values, namely, once in a month the discussions will be held around the pre-selected topics with facilitation of invited experts in higher education institutions of the listed cities.
The invited expert, Mr. Emzar Jgerenaia discussed the topics of “The State” and
“the Society” with the students at the meeting “The State and The Citizen” in Akhaltsikhe. Afterwards he himself facilitated students’ discussions around the topics on “The Human Rights”, “Media and Society”, “Civil Society”, etc selected and elaborated by the students.
At the conclusive stage of the project, it is planned to invite active participants of the discussions to the conference in Tbilisi. The representatives of international organizations, rights protection NGOs, and government will also attend the conference.
The topics elaborated by the students will be published in brochure in terms of the project.
