Transparency of Websites of Public Agencies

20 Sep, 2012

The Institute for Information Development Freedom (IDFI) has unveiled public agency website monitoring results.

IDFI monitored websites of 104 public agencies with the support from the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF) and National Security Achieve. As part of the monitoring, the IDFI evaluated the transparency and exhaustiveness of the public information published on the websites of governmental agencies.

The results obtained are as follows: The average quality of the transparency of public agency websites is 13.91%, while the average percentage of technical efficiency – 39.7 %, therefore the total average indicator is similarly low – 26.85%.

Based on the above mentioned indicators we may come to the conclusion that public agencies focus more on the regulation of technical issues rather than proactive publishing of public information on the websites.
