Various activities were organized in Abkhazia region on July 19th – 24th to strength the rule of law in Abkhazia and to raise the self-consciences of local population in terms of law and justice. The activities were organized by the financial aid of Open Society Georgia Foundation with in the project “Legal Aid in Abkhazia”.

Project “Legal Aid in Abkhazia” is implementing by the financial support of Open Society Georgia Foundation, with in the rule of law and public administration program. The project is also supported by Abkhazian autonomous republic and is implementing by the Crime Investigation and Prognosis Center.

At present the project is developing in different directions. The primary goal is to raise the awareness of local population in terms of law by delivering lectures, conducting seminars, meetings and educational activities, developing the skills of local population how to use law in practice, presenting new legislation to local self-government, founding and presenting new NGOs.

With in the project the constitution of Georgia was translated in Abkhazian language, in the near future consultations will be organized for local population on the following essential issues as entrepreneur, tax and civic law; small business development; ways and opportunities to obtain small grants and credits.
