18 Sep, 2013

On September 19, Thursday, at 11:45 a.m. European Initiative – Liberal Academy Tbilisi will unveil outcomes of the research project: “Visa Liberalization Prospects: Civil Society Involvement and Advocacy” in Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel.

The project has been supported by the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).

The project aims to monitor the implementation of the Visa Facilitation Agreement and EU Visa Code, increase public awareness of the outcomes and secure civil society involvement and advocacy.

The first interim research is completely dedicated to the monitoring of performing obligations under the Visa Facilitation Agreement and EU Visa Code by the consulates of EU states.  It evaluates the condition of the consulates according to different criteria, presents profiles of consulates of member states, defines key trends and along with the progress describes those specific challenges that have emerged in the process of the implementation of the Visa Facilitation Agreement and EU Visa Code.

The report was followed by discussions.  The Georgian civil sector, government, media and international organizations, including officials from the embassies of the EU states in Georgia, took part in the discussions.
